Charity concert dedicated to Independence Day

On October 18, 2025, a charity musical and poetic concert dedicated to the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held at the Rashid Behbudov State Song Theatre.

The event was jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Children’s Fund, the Modern Poems – Contemporary Azerbaijani Poets literary project, and the Young Poets children’s literary project.

The main goal of the concert was to convey the spiritual values, national unity, and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people through poetry, music, and dance, as well as to support children within the framework of a charitable initiative.

Speakers at the event included Lala Hasanova, head of the Modern Poems – Contemporary Azerbaijani Poets project and member of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, and Zahra Badalbeyli, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Children’s Fund.

The evening program also featured poems by poet and translator Zaur Jafarov, dedicated to all regions and cities of Azerbaijan.

Talented participants of the Young Poets children’s literary project performed at the concert, including:

Aliya Taghiyeva, Amina Abdullayeva, Fateh Mammadov, Tamerlan Mammadov, Ayan Amiraslanli, Yasmin Dayanova, Alisa Tishkevich, Maryam Babayeva, Banu Gorchieva, Narmin Allahverdiyeva, Khadija Nagiyeva, Jannat Mammadova, Emiliya Mammadova, Diana Khanmammadli, Albert Blokhin, Ibrahim Alimzade, Rena Huseynzade, Fereykhanim Mammadova, Maryam Abbasova, Tamilla Ahmadova,

Aziza Mammadova, Khadija Khalilova and Imran Shikhiev.

Poets from the Modern Poems – Contemporary Azerbaijani Poets project also performed their works on stage, including:

Lala Hasanova, Turkan Bayramzade, Jabrayil Muradov, Anar Huseynov, Samira Shikhieva, Aytaj Tomarova, Gunatay Huseynova, Olga Shalaeva, Ayten Hasan-zade, Alisajid Hashimzade, Sabina Aliyeva, Ayfel Mammadova, Narmin Hajiyeva, Narmin Musayeva, Leman Hasanova, Bayram Maharramov and Ziba Rasul.

The concert program also included musical and dance performances.

Among the performers were Leman Gulamova, graduate of the Baku Music Academy; Leman Jafarova, student of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory; and musician-composer Murad Muradov.

Spectators enjoyed dance compositions by the SanSara dance ensemble of the International Academy of Gymnastics, Acrobatics, and Dance, choreographed by Diana Tsurkan and directed by Irina Tsurkan.

Special appreciation was extended to Renata Asyanova, participant and actress of the project, for her voluntary support.

One of the most touching moments of the evening was the appearance of Elmar Latifov, veteran of the Second Karabakh War, and Regina Kovalyova, daughter of Azerbaijan’s National Hero Yuri Kovalyov.

Both were awarded Certificates of Appreciation by Sayavush Aslanov, chairman of the Public Union Defense of the Rights of the Motherland’s Heroes of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Later, Zaur Jafarov shared that he dedicated

his poems to the cherished memory of his late mother.

At the end of the event, Professor Flora Naji, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Honored Journalist and faculty member of the Azerbaijan University of Languages, together with Zaur Jafarov, expressed their gratitude to Ulviyya Babirova, Director of the Rashid Behbudov State Song Theatre.

The concert was also attended by People’s Writer of Azerbaijan Natiq Rasulzade, Eldar Aghadov, honorary member of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union and Head of the Coordination Council of the World Writers’ Organization, Alaeddin Yagubov, bard and member of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, Ulkar Talibzade, director of the Abdulla Shaig House-Museum, Elmar Sheykhzade, editor-in-chief of the Literature World newspaper, Latifa Mammadova, director of the Yasamal District Centralized Library System, and other distinguished guests.

All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Azerbaijan Children’s Fund to support children in need.
